it's kinda insane how I started watching haikyuu after years of procrastinating, just as something that can take my mind off while I'm on writing breaks, and now it has become such a core part of my life that I get my inspiration and motivation from them. not sure if youve all noticed but. ive been rewatching haikyuu w my wife. the english dub makes me sick with laughter and im, quite frankly, having the time if my life. i havent been able to get into many sports anime, but haikyuu feels like smth more than that to me at times.

In honor of the Haikyuu movie being released globally, here's the song I wrote back in 2020 a week before the manga ended. I wrote, produced and recorded it in three days with a cheap Blue Yeti microphone. It contains references to many different scenes and phrases.

I'm still trying to figure out a way of making this song reach Furudate-sensei because this song in itself is my way to thank them for their hard work and I think they should know how much it means to other people. So if anyone got any ideas please let me know.

Kageyama setting the ball so high to make Hinata jump because despite his logic, his gut is telling him that he can trust Hinata to jump that high??? Hinata jumping so high because Kageyama told him he can??? FREAKS

OH two things about the cinematography that I really liked:

1) they focused so much on how shaken Hinata is as he finds it harder and harder to score for the team. the closeups on his shaky breaths, his facial expressions >>>

2) there was a point when only one person's heavy breathing could be heard. I don't recognise their voices that well. But then they shift to a first person pov from Kenma, focusing on how he is getting more exhausted with every pass. He could barely keep up. Hinata (and Karasuno) was tiring him out because Hinata promised he would do that. It doesn't matter that Kenma doesn't like feeling tired or sweating. Hinata promised to be so interesting that Kenma would not stop trying even past exhausting himself. "I don't want it to end yet"

Furudate sensei, I hope your pillow is always cold on both sides and your blanket's always warm

honestly, what cemented ennoshita as my top fave hq character was that he became a physical therapist.

initially, i loved him a lot because his story of running away but coming back to face it all resonated with me. also he's really cute hehe. however, i have a lot of love for allied health/rehab professionals and what they do. it's not easy, despite what some people may think.

for context, i'm a speech-language pathology student. i frequently meet other physical therapy and occupational therapy students, and i really respect what they do (physical therapists, in particular, because i still struggle to wrap my head around all the kinds of things under their scope).

so, when i saw "ennoshita chikara (22) physical therapist" i downright screamed in joy at the allied health representation, and how fitting it is for ennoshita to be in that field.

"ah, he's pretty dedicated to his job, huh?" I KNOW IT'S JUST ONE LINE BUT 😭 i admire service-oriented people driven by genuine love, and ennoshita is just THAT. to him, it's not being flashy or getting something in return. he will stay committed and do his best to be reliable.

furthermore, ennoshita is amazing at reading and understanding people. that is such an important trait to have when interacting with clients. all disabilities greatly impact one's life; the last thing anyone needs is a dismissive and inconsiderate care provider.

it makes me so happy that he ends up here. all his strengths and growth as a high school volleyball player translated well into his future occupation.

also, it's so sweet to see that there are opportunities for him to reconnect with his love for volleyball, despite no longer being a player. the captain in him definitely comes out when talking to clients involved in sports!

anyway, thank you furudate-sensei for ennoshita chikara (22) physical therapist.

im feeling so emotional about haikyuu again tonight. just thought about how it was my first anime as a teen (not counting watching the random late night screenings of naruto shipudden on tv as a 7 year old) and then discovering more animes till it was pushed to the back of my mind, and now to present day where i've discovered it again and it's just as glorious as the day i started it and fell in love with it even harder. haikyuu has so many life lessons and impactful moments in both manga and anime and i'll forever be grateful to furudate sensei. thank you for sharing this with all of us and letting it be our forever comfort ♡ falling in love all over again with a fixation that you fell out of touch with momentarily is the most wonderful thing to experience

Hi! AHHHHHHH I HAVE SO MANY HAIKYUU ASKS SITTING IN MY INBOX, I just- I get very emo while thinking about Haikyuu, so sorry to everyone who has asked me about Haikyuu till now...

Okay, not gonna lie but I LOVE EVERYONE SINGLE HAIKYUU CHARACTER, CAN I NOT SAY EVERYONE IS MY FAVORITE????😭😭😭 but if I had to choose top 5 with a gun to my head because that's the only scenario where I would think of choosing:

(1) Hinata Shouyo (is anyone even surprised anymore): Baby boy, sunshine incarnate, my most handworking baby, I need to meet him and tell him personally how proud I am of him.

(2) Tsukishima Kei: his character development and his growth is the greatest thing to witness and he genuinely so sarcastic and mean I love it.

(3) Kita-san: You ever encounter a character that changes the way you view the world, because that's what Kita Shinsuke did to mine. The words he says just, it just hits hard and it hits home.

(4) Oikawa Tooru: See I am not immune to incredibly annoying but endearing characters. And he nails that category with flying colors.

(5) Kenma Kozume: Oh he is someone I did not think I would like, let alone be on top 5 but Kenma really just full of surprises, especially post-timeskip Kenma, I fucking love that Kenma he genuinely one of the best, I wish him the best in life!

Uhhhhhh my top 5 moments might contain some spoilers so guys please if you haven't read Haikyuu, PLEASE DON'T LOOK I BEG YOU(trust me it's better if you read it on your own or wait for the next movie installment):

(1) When you lost but you are still smiling because you finally FINALLY found your equal ah <3

(2) The little Giant vs The World's Greatest Decoy...Actually I applaud Furudate-sensei for even thinking of them like this because people were going on about Hinata would be jealous of Hoshiumi and how there would be a type of resentment between the two because they both might want the little giant title but Furudate said no and gave the greatest story about upliftment, finding your own self-identity and paving your own paths (writing this thru my tears btw I realise now why I don't talk about Haikyuu that much I just start crying lmfao)

(3) “it’s just a club” - this scene making top 5 because one, it’s literally PEAK FICTION and story telling and two, I saw my little sister ugly cried to this scene…shoutout to my little sister

(4) I am not even gonna say anything except the fact I was paralyzed in utter shock during this scene. Also this scene followed by Takeda sensei...I CAN NOT TELL YOU HOW IT CHANGED THE TRAJECTORY OF MY LIFELINE.

(5) The entirety of Brazil arc...Gun to my head I can't not choose one moment out of it because every panel, every interaction and everything about this arc is phenomenal

Also quickly my top 3 ships from hq would be: Kagehina (not immune to the soulmates agenda), Iwaoi (not immune to the annoying x annoyed but still loves agenda) and Tsukiyama (only yamaguchi can love this guy ngl)

oh! I'd add also that furudate-sensei is a new recent one! especially towards the last volumes of the manga, i love the quality of his linework and how rough his bodies are. like, the big hands with square fingers, and the intense expressions, and the way he marks muscles. it's great stuff! I've definitely taken some inspiration from it

10. are you confident about your art?

kind of! this is kind of like the last ask i think. im confident i can make my art work for what i want/need it to do, and that it'll send the message across even if it's not the prettiest. and that's a pretty good thing imo! but i wouldnt feel confident if asked to make a fully colored illustration for example. im very aware of where my skills are at and what my strengths are hahah but i do try to work on expanding them when i can
